A kind, empathetic, creative and driven young woman, that’s Jonne Telkamp summarized in one sentence. A 21 years old girl from Nijmegen with a hard work drive and who knows what she wants: Working for a big television company and following the footsteps of her inspiration, Stacy Dooley.
‘When I was at high shool, my friends called me ‘the mom’ of the group. I arranged our holiday, took care of everyone’s passports and made sure we would get a cab to the hotel. That is the reason why I wanted to work in production and started studying media and entertainment,’ Jonne explains. However, after her first internship she made up her mind. Creativity and making content caught her attention. Devising and making programs for television – instead of only being responsible for the production of the show – is what she wants to be doing in the future.
Jonne is already busy achieving what she aspires: ‘I think it is important to get a job on the side of your studies in the same field.’ After school hours, she is part of big productions on Dutch television such as; ‘Hollands got Talent’, ‘Heel Holland bakt’ and ‘Koffietijd’. Jonne is a hard-working woman who knows what she wants: ‘I want to work for a big television company and make human interest programs.’
Stacey Dooley
Jonne is inspired by the woman Stacey Dooley, a documentary maker and journalist: ‘She is the coolest woman I have ever heard of, she is my inspiration. Stacey Dooley became famous when she participated in the television show “Blood, Sweat and T-shirts”; a show about young girls who travel to China to visit the big clothing factories.” Nowadays Stacey Dooley is a journalist and makes social-issue-themed documentaries, tells Jonne. ‘More people should make documentaries and tv-programs like Stacey does. It’s important to give a voice to the voiceless.’
Other core values which are important to Jonne as a journalist are: respect, having a neutral opinion, dareing to ask critical questions and never ever discriminate another human being.
Jonne Telkamp is well on her way to be the next Stacey Dooley of the Netherlands. Remember her name, we might her from her in the future.
